TEACHING PRACTICE- PHASE 1( WEEKLY REFLECTION- 3)
The first week of my teaching practice at NSS HSS Madavoor was an exciting and insightful experience. As it marked the beginning of my journey as a trainee teacher, I approached it with both enthusiasm and nervousness. The school atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the staff and students were cooperative, which helped me adapt quickly to the new environment. there was 5 days class during this week. This week, I taught physics in 9 C class, chemistry in 8 D and physics in 8 G class.
For the 9th class the unit was 'Equations of motion'. I covered the topics velocity, acceleration, traffic rules etc. For the 8th class, I taught atoms and chemical formula from the unit 'Elements and Compounds'. And for the 8th physics I covered the topics motion, distance, speed etc. from the unit 'Motion and Force'. I prepared lesson plans for each period and used teaching aids such as charts, flashcards, and PowerPoint slides to make the sessions interactive and clear.
As this was my first week, managing the class effectively was both challenging and rewarding. Initially, a few students were distracted, but by setting clear expectations and maintaining friendly discipline, I was able to gain their attention. I also learned to use positive reinforcement to encourage good behavior and participation.
