TEACHING PRACTICE- PHASE 2 (WEEKLY REFLECTION- 1)

Teaching is not about answering questions but about raising questions." — Shimon Peres.

The second phase of my teaching practice marked a significant step forward in my journey as a teacher trainee. This week allowed me to deepen my understanding of classroom dynamics, refine my teaching strategies, and strengthen my confidence as an educator. Returning to the school environment felt both familiar and refreshing, and I was able to build on the rapport established with students during the earlier phase.

Throughout the week, I focused on delivering lessons more effectively by integrating a wider range of teaching aids and activity-oriented strategies. Visual aids, questioning techniques, and real-life examples proved especially useful in maintaining student interest and enhancing comprehension. I also made a conscious effort to cater to mixed-ability learners by giving additional support where needed and encouraging active participation from quieter students.

Classroom management improved considerably this week. I found myself better equipped to handle disruptions, give clear instructions, and maintain a positive learning atmosphere. The feedback from my supervising teacher helped me refine small aspects of my lesson flow, such as pacing, transitions between activities, and time management.

One of the highlights of this week was observing noticeable improvement in students’ responses. Their curiosity and willingness to engage more deeply with the subject affirmed the effectiveness of my instructional strategies. I also took part in co-curricular duties, which gave me a fuller experience of school life and helped strengthen my professional skills.

Overall, this week was both challenging and rewarding. It reminded me that teaching is a continuous process of learning, experimenting, and evolving. The experiences gained during this second phase have further strengthened my passion for teaching and motivated me to continue improving in the coming weeks.
