TEACHING PRACTICE- PHASE 2 (WEEKLY REFLECTION- 2)

The second week of my second phase of teaching practice was a period of steady growth, deeper engagement, and increased confidence. Having settled into the school routine, I was able to concentrate more on refining my teaching methods and strengthening my connection with students.u

This week, my focus was on making lessons more interactive and student-centred. I incorporated activities such as pair discussions, simple experiments, and visual presentations to make the learning process more meaningful. I noticed that students responded enthusiastically when lessons were connected to everyday life, and this encouraged me to explore more real-world examples in my teaching.

Classroom management also improved during the week. I became more confident in giving instructions, handling transitions, and maintaining discipline without disrupting the flow of the lesson. I paid closer attention to individual learners, especially those who needed extra support, and made sure to check their understanding regularly. Small one-to-one interactions helped build trust and made students feel more included.

A memorable moment from this week was watching students take initiative during group tasks. Their active participation reassured me that the strategies I adopted were effective in fostering collaboration and critical thinking. I also received constructive feedback from my mentor teacher, which helped me reflect on areas where I could improve, such as providing clearer learning outcomes at the beginning of each lesson.

Beyond classroom teaching, I assisted in various school activities that helped me understand the broader responsibilities of a teacher. These experiences reminded me that teaching extends far beyond textbooks and requires patience, adaptability, and compassion.

Overall, Week 2 was a fulfilling and insightful chapter in my teaching journey. The small improvements I observed—in my methods and in the students’ responses—motivated me to continue striving for excellence in the coming weeks.
