TEACHING PRACTICE- PHASE 2 (WEEKLY REFLECTION- 3)
Week 3 of my second phase of teaching practice was a meaningful blend of learning, experimentation, and self-reflection. By this stage, I felt more settled and confident in my role, which allowed me to focus on enhancing the quality of my lessons and strengthening student engagement.
This week, I made a conscious effort to integrate more learner-centered strategies into my teaching. Activities like concept mapping, short quizzes, and peer explanations helped students take ownership of their learning. I also tried using more real-life examples and demonstrations, which made even challenging concepts easier for them to grasp. It was encouraging to see students becoming more curious and willing to participate actively.
One of my key goals this week was to improve formative assessment. I incorporated exit slips, quick oral checks, and reflective questions at the end of lessons. This not only helped me gauge student understanding but also guided my planning for the next day. I realized that continuous assessment plays a vital role in shaping effective teaching.
Classroom management continued to develop positively. I felt more comfortable handling unexpected situations, managing time, and ensuring that learning activities remained smooth and purposeful. I also spent more time interacting with individual learners, offering guidance, and acknowledging their small achievements, which helped build a warm classroom environment.
Another highlight of this week was participating in school programs and duties. These experiences gave me a deeper understanding of the teamwork and coordination required in school life and reminded me of the wider role teachers play in students’ holistic development.
Overall, Week 3 was a productive and enriching experience. Every day taught me something new—about teaching, about students, and about myself. The growth I observed in my teaching practices and in the students’ responses strengthened my confidence and enthusiasm as I continue my teaching journey.
